The House is scheduled to vote on a new Senate-approved appropriations bill this Thursday, January 22. (The Senate is in recess this week.)

The legislation includes an increase in funding for DHS—on top of the already-huge amount they received through the 2025 One Big Beautiful Bill Act.

We have been trying to analyze the Trump health “plan” but I worry that unless Congress puts something real together we are analyzing air. Big Q’s such as are pre-x protected are impossible to answer from their Fact Sheet. What we do know: it partly captured a news cycle.

Before we can ever tackle reasonable immigration reform, we need to put an end to federally sanctioned—and incentivized—violence.

Equally damaging is the administration’s rush to spin its narrative after every tragedy—even before a comprehensive investigation.

On C-SPAN tonight, the host and a call-in listener had this exchange about next year’s midterms:

Host: Do you want to see more Mamdanis, or more candidates like Mikie Sherrill and Abigail Spanberger?

Voter: I want someone who cares. And all three of these people seem to care.

The Affordable Act didn’t just expand individual coverage for people who couldn’t get insurance through an employer. It made changes to the health insurance industry itself, including private plans. Here are just some of the ways the ACA has improved health coverage for all of us. 🧵

The shameless GOP lying about the No Kings gatherings scheduled for next Saturday reveals how deeply hostile much of the Republican Party is to “the right of the people peaceably to assemble.” I look forward to our local No Kings event, and urge my fellow Americans to attend in their communities.

Things to consider:

Document the violence & violations--on camera, w/photos, saving images--any way you can. Speaking as a historian- it will matter

Point out violations--w/images & text--even if you think it won't matter. It will. It needs to be called out & exposed

You are a witness.
Expose it.

Some of you are saying that because of NSPM-7, you're blanking out your social media accounts and going to ground.

Has it occurred to you that \the intent behind issuing this gigantic, unconstitutional, and unenforceable thing was to get you to do exactly that?

This is the playbook, folks.

If you're not paying attention now and doing something about it, then you're going to have to sit down the rest of your life because democracy is being taken away.
