They impact everything from fire behavior to air quality, yet every year people act surprised, as if this is some astonishing new development. Nice try, but that kind of selective amnesia is offensive. Also, consider taking a geology or meteorology course, because it’s only going to become more extreme. Your fire chief shouldn’t have to tell you that—you should already know, given your sworn position in the region. You owe the people you serve at least that much, rather than shifting blame to take the heat off your own back.
