Really? The UK Govt does not propose ending the RTB in England, it only proposes reforms. As for social housing, the SAHP 2026 - 2036 "expects" that 60% of housing funded via it will be for social rent, the rest will be "affordable" housing or housing for sale.

Here's a thought. Stop pandering to profiteering private developers & fund the building of much needed social housing by Councils & Housing Associations. Oh & follow the lead of the devolved nations and end the Right to Buy in England.

Thank goodness for that. As for Brain's, it almost went under during the pandemic. But they got out of trouble by leasing the vast majority of their pubs to Marston's. Brain's retain the freeholds, the pubs sell Brain's beer & Brain's continues as an independent, family run brewer. Phew.

I don't think it's malice, it's just business to them. Shut breweries, keep some beer brands (for now), maximise profits. Drink regional or craft beers whenever possible. For me, that's Brains.

South Wales valleys mining village, 1970's. Comprehensive school, both parents working in poorly paid jobs. 6 kids in my year went to University. All had full grants & paid nothing. I know no-one who had to work to support their families. I know many who went to work to start their own lives.
