Also, if you haven't listened to At The Drive In's Relationship of Command, that's kinda where a lot of the 2000s post hardcore originated and is worth checking out (better prod. than Doppelganger as well). Then The Mars Volta's Deloused, where half of ATDI's members ended up, and is amazing.

I can see your point, but I actually like the rawness of the album because I feel like it complements the dark and chaotic themes of the album. Either way, have you heard Elephantitis by Hail the Sun? It's quite influenced by TFOT but with a little bit more modern sound.
