Yes!!! Aabria was an amazing DM (the gifts for creating meaningful story beats! The emotional stakes!) and the letters were fantastic. Everyone bounced off each other so well in that campaign.

In her defense, she’s just a tiny kitten who was born yesterday (twelve years ago) and can not be held responsible for any injuries sustained during a 5am existential crisis

Emile: shows up late dressed as David Bowie in Labyrinth, has messy sex with Baz in the bathroom, leaves.
Baz: arrives dressed as David Bowie from his Ziggy Stardust era and leaves with his makeup smeared and his wig missing

Adrien: Playboy bunny costume, but he tells everyone that he’s Elle Woods—look, he’s even carrying the see-through laptop
Isiodore: attends in an inflatable t-Rex costume for exactly ten minutes before he discreetly changes. No one will ever believe the person who finds out.

Sebastien: he doesn’t realize he needs a costume, but everyone assumes he’s Dracula regardless. One person asks if he’s an elf.
Devon: also doesn’t dress up, but people assume he’s in a couples costume as a thrall… and they aren’t entirely wrong about that.

The wigmaking isn’t even important to the plot! The scene in question might not even survive the next few drafts!

There are many moments of comfort and peace in his movies and even the manga, and it’s totally fine to prefer the low-stakes films. It’s when *corporations* market something as ghibli-esque in an attempt to capitalize on the need for comfort and escape that I get a little persnickety about it.

There’s even a point where she’s tempted with an illusion of her mother as a loving, caring figure, instead of her real mother who didn’t want to risk loving her when all her other children had passed. Nausicaa knows that a pretty illusion won’t heal her.

In the Nausicaa manga, Nausicaa is given a choice to have a quiet, peaceful life in an idyllic setting. At this point in the story, she’s been through the wringer. She desperately yearns to stay, but she chooses to leave. It’s a trope you also see in myths like the Odyssey.
