I remember being little trying to explain why something hurt my feelings, and the response was basically ‘you’re a kid, you’ll be fine.’ Kids feel everything, they just don’t have the vocabulary yet. Treating them like they’re clueless is how you end up w adults who can’t talk about their pain
adults tend to think children are not capable of complex thoughts or feelings and are incredibly cruel to them as a result. a little baffling as we all have been kids, and i'd wager most of us became familiar with suffering at an early age.
