I thought the monster was very unrealistic… he’s supposed to be very tall and strong, not have superpowers. And he looked terrible, like Paul Bettany in Wandavision. The suffering was based on latent homosexuality and daddy issues, not identity and being. Just lacked any real depth for this viewer.

Yes. I taught it as well and it informed part of my PhD. For me, it really missed the key existential questions of Being and Identity.
