Last month, IRAP President Sharif Aly joined 17 other @rcusa.bsky.social member orgs to send President Trump a letter urging his administration to abandon its efforts to undermine international refugee law and treaties:

"We expect to see a proper presidential determination process as set forth by statute. That includes required public hearings and Congressional consultation so the American people can hear the stories of the people our nation has abandoned this year.”

“Any refugee admissions policy that leaves out people who are already in the pipeline, including over 12,000 people who had their approved applications and travel arrangements cancelled on January 20th, is unfair, unjust, and leaves families and individuals in terribly dangerous situations."

From June 2024-June 2025, ca. 46% of respondents from the Americas reported experiencing an environmental disaster in their country of origin, 54% reported environmental challenges during transit, and 28% experienced both.

The new data confirm our previous reporting: climate change continues to be a driving factor of displacement across the Americas.
