We are all heartbroken by the news we have lost a cherished member of our small IPI/IPA family in the form of Ambassador David Malone DPhil, who served as our President with great distinction from 1998 to 2004. We extend our condolences to David’s family and to his diplomatic family in Canada.

#COP30, Belém: countries made some important moves on adaptation, finance & just transition, yet left the biggest gap unresolved: an agreement to transition away from fossil fuels. IPI continued the work we’ve done all year, building trust & encouraging compromise needed for climate cooperation.

As talks continue at #COP30 in Belém, we are supporting the Alliance of Small Island States (AOSIS) in key consultations on the Global Goal on Adaptation (GGA).

The GGA aims to define how countries prepare for and respond to climate impacts — a critical issue for Small Island Developing States.

🫱🏻‍🫲🏽 We received a delegation from the Democratic Republic of the Congo earlier this week. The meeting focused on the security situation in the DRC and served as a timely exchange in light of the upcoming MONUSCO mandate renewal in December and the DRC’s forthcoming membership on the UNSC.
