This month, I implemented new image packs "Split by item" and "Split by animation and item" for the Universal LPC Character Generator, and updated my Aseprite LPC import plugin to support them.

To lock onto a higher enemy, do you expect to push the analog stick towards E or towards G?
My instinct points to E as most visually intuitive but likely more complex implementation (project onscreen targets onto the screen plane before raycasting to find the target)

This assumes a weapon rest position with the grip at the pivot point, the shaft going right and the edge facing down. (I have the axe's pivot point (40, 64) defined elsewhere)

Each frame's weapon transform can be encoded as 3 pixels.

🟩Edge direction
The great thing is they are still correct with the frame flipped!
(Layer order doesn't matter here as long as your engine can draw individual layers)
