Marine scientists underpin all our research and conservation efforts.

Our Marine Science Programme focuses on the Indian Ocean Region with project partners across the region and beyond. We work with 96 scientists from 23 institutions in 9 countries.

Happy World Ocean Day! The theme this year is 'Catalyzing Action for Our Ocean and Climate'

These are some of our Marine Science Programme 2024 highlights and we’re excited to see how we can improve on these in 2025 and use science to inform conservation action.

Our scientists study a wide range of species, some of which are classed as ‘Endangered’ or ‘Critically Endangered’ by the IUCN Redlist.

Today is #EndangeredSpeciesDay and we want to share just some of the incredible endangered species our programme has the privilege of studying.

Mesophotic Coral Ecosytems (MCEs) host high, unique biodiversity which shows the importance of including MCEs within conservation & management plans.
Shallow & mesophotic reef ecosystems should be managed as separate, valuable ecosystems vulnerable to climate change.🦑
