I think that all vacant lots should be automatically up for auction starting at 5% over the assessed value, with the profit split across all relevant taxing bodies

If the market value of this lot is truly $2.1 million dollars, the city should simply seize it via eminent domain and put a park there.

And it's basically impossible for this lot, which is a full quarter of a city block, to get any more 'downtown'

i'm making a more technical point that i've seen no evidence that american soliders have a positive duty to refuse an illegal order. illegal orders create a defense to a charge of failing to obey an order, and negate a defense to a criminal charge, but don't create an independent duty, as far I know

I'm not convinced that there's actually a written rule that applies to the US Military that states that officers or enlisted are "supposed to refuse illegal orders". I think instead that "the order was unlawful" is established as a defense in a court martial for refusing to obey an order.

Lots of new questions, though:

Is “A sequel to 2069; PR225” part of the title of “2069 + 1”?
“A” sequel, not “the” sequel?
Is the semicolon part of the title of “2069;”? Why is it white? Why is it there?
Are “pleasure readers” really so commonly referred to by their PR numbers?

Something called World War *II* was, I would argue, mostly precedented.

Sorry, I do time travel law only! Alternate universe law is really outside of my area of expertise. There is a version of me who does that that I can refer you to.

going backwards, you’re just paying for services already rendered - that’s a bill, not a retainer

the Andersonville galleria is for when you need a gift for the gay wine mom in your life and you don't care what it is. if you must put a vest on your boyfriend and drag them somewhere, at least take them to an antique store where there might be a cool rusty tool or a neat broken clock or something
