The guy hasn’t even taken office and already he’s a sellout? He literally called Trump a fascist to his face. POTUS can do significant harm to the city he’s about to govern, so maybe it makes some sense to try and find ways to work with him.

Mamdani could not lose. If Trump treated him badly (as was expected) he comes off as having the courage to go in and face that, and scores points. If he’s dazzled by his charisma (must admit, did not expect), Mamdani looks magnanimous and like someone who can bridge an unbridgeable gap.
