In practice, the insight of not-two does not arrive as a philosophy, but as a felt shift in perception.

"He abused me, he beat me, he defeated me, he robbed me" — in those who harbor such thoughts hatred will never cease
"He abused me, …" — in those who do not harbor such thoughts hatred will cease.
For hatred does not cease by hatred at any time: hatred ceases by love - this is an old rule.

Buddhist insights: Buddhist meditation: 'Zazen is Buddha' interview with Jōkō Shibata by Arthur Braverman ow.ly/iD3Kg.
Zazen is Buddha
My teacher said that I should go to Eiheiji, you realize that it is nothing special — ‘This is all it is?’ Then you can relax and get down to practising. That’s the reality, isn’t it?

Different faith traditions handle hard questions about life and death in different interesting ways but one question that I think buddhism is uniquely suited for is "why are people like that?" When you see someone behaving in a way that is senselessly destructive for no benefit that you can discern.

For those steeped in conventional ideas about teachers, doctrines, and spiritual attainment, the Buddha’s self-enlightenment was difficult to grasp.

The significance of the Buddhist teaching lies in the fact that it isn’t doctrinal. It’s not an attempt to tell us how things should be, it’s more a way of bringing our attention to the way things are.

Morning meditation — Patience, one of the six perfections.
‘Patience, one of the six perfections, is the practice of enduring difficulties without anger or frustration. It is the capacity to remain calm and composed in the face of adversity, knowing that all experiences, whether pleasant or unpleasant, are fleeting.’ Everyday Buddhism

That first half was operatic. It’s gonna be scary in February when this team has honed that to maximum efficiency. Think about last years team in the Bahamas vs. that team in February minus several key players.
