I live in this town. Selling the prep school is awful news because it’s going to force the cash strapped school to sell one its three cricket pitches, leaving it with only two, like some disgusting comprehensive…

It appears that 20 somethings are trying to make nostalgia for the 2010s a thing. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...
Why 2016 nostalgia is taking over social media in 2026
Fidget spinners, filters and feeds that worked. Why are young people pining to go back a decade?

My (admittedly limited) understanding of police ranks makes me unsurprised that Amanda is about as perceptive as a house brick. DCI is management innit. Probably investigated more HR disputes than actual crimes. #Traitors

Like every reality show I’ve ever watched I’m bored of the premise of The Traitors now. Any “dramatic revelation” and I’m as underwhelmed as Pam.

Bethels is a genuine find. Debut FC century in an away Ashes series is quite the confidence builder.

Bonus points to me for getting Gallipoli and Pozieres into the BBC Cricket comments in a discussion about Steve Smith’s cricket legacy.

Today was my first day in a decade as a main scale member of staff and not a senior manager. Decided that leadership roles are not for me and I wanted to enjoy teaching again.

I’m no expert but I’m not sure capturing foreign heads of state in undeclared wars is entirely legal.

The worst thing about premium bonds is seeing people with smaller total holdings than you win big prizes. Upsets the natural order of a capitalist society, which is that the people with more money should get more again.

I’ve had a hacking cough all Christmas and I’ve been coughing so much I have strained all my stomach and chest muscles. Every new cough is agony. I’ve taken to wearing a back brace on backwards to immobilise me as much as possible. Didn’t see this coming when I was in my 20s.

Pantomime very, very rude. Loved it. Salisbury Playhouse Pantomime up there with the best. No C list celebrities, just great sets and costumes, and plenty of digs at neighbouring towns.

Annual family pantomime trip this evening. Oh yes it is etc etc.

Pleased (and staggered) that my friend who flew to Melbourne for the trip of a lifetime with tickets for days 1 and 2, saw the entire test match from start to finish.

Three innings of cricket in one day. Time to burn more bails (or sack the groundskeeper) because that was the death of test cricket (again). #TheAshes

I know it’s nostalgia rather than a literal truth, but I feel like Christmas television as a child was wall to wall event TV. Now there’s literally nothing I would tune in for.

Toying with the idea that, as I have a stinker of a cold, it’s acceptable to start drinking now because “medicinal”.

We’re Teutonic Christmas Eve eaters in our house. I’ve braised the cabbage and gratinated the sprouts. I’m going to hot honey the carrots and parsnips next. #yum

I can’t abide the fetishising of the past. “Retro” decorations aren’t a thing. They’re just decorations which were naff then and naff now. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...
Why tinsel and colourful Christmas lights are on trend again
People are embracing excess and nostalgia again with huge demand for bold designs from the past, experts say.
