At GameSoundCon this year we had a booth. First hour four people came up and asked if we did AI music because backdrop said ”composable generative music”. I got big piece of paper and wrote ”procedural” instead and taped it over.

I remember when I got the first Oculus Quest dev kit, called Santa Rosa I think(?). There was obviously nothing to play except the oculus menus, so I had to make my own game just to play something. Almost a year later the first games could be bought :)

Alec, can I be on the list of cool people you reckon?

We created a system for *composable generative music* as our booth backdrop said. First hour four people asked if it was AI. Had to tape that word over to say ”procedural” instead. I hate how Big AI have stolen that word.

It’s a great philosophy I think. I started working out a year ago for the first time in my life. Mostly because I wanted to be able to keep tossing my kids around and at 8 and 6 they are getting Heavy! Goal is to keep getting stronger so I can do it into their teens.

I’d pay for the reverse. Load up a finished scene and have all foley and music converted to you humming and chewing.

So a big big big game incentivises people to be "stuck" in said game. Pair that with micro transactions, and DLC and you've got a stew going.

I think it's two-fold. The time investment to create all the systems needed for AAA games is huge. Once assets are done also, the time needed to create 20 more hours of side quests is small in comparison. Which brings in the second point; games today don't compete for your wallet but for your time.
