He seems to be saying that a lot of people wanted Khashoggi dead, not that he had it coming. He's trying to give cover to the Saudi dictator by saying the kill order was not necessarily from the very top. Disgusting enough behavior without twisting what Trump was saying.

The USA does seem to have more violent mentally ill people, though. We also have more per capita knife violence than other nations even when guns are so easy to access.

Obvious to me that she was addressing the people delighting in violence, not giving extra consideration to mourning Kirk. She was trying to counter the "murder is good actually" vibe.

Oddly, when someone pointed out to Bobby Fischer that one of his friends was Jewish, Bobby said (paraphrased) "No he's not, you're only a Jew if I say you're a Jew", and he meant basically that anyone he didn't like was Jewish, and if he liked you, you weren't Jewish despite ancestry.

The article's argument isn't about safety, it is a legal nitpick. If a cop runs a red light in a non-emergency and causes an accident, the cop gets in trouble and if it is fatal they go to jail for manslaughter. The article wants cops to behave like normal cars in non-emergencies and I disagree.

The public isn't paying taxes so that cops can be stuck in traffic. We want the police to go after criminals, and they can't do that if they are stuck waiting.

The Democrats need to be tough on crime. All I ever seem to hear from them is "Crime is down. Crime is not a big problem."
What they need to say is "Crime is a big problem and we are going to fix it, not with fascism, but with real results. No more second chances for violent criminals."

DS9 is on par with TNG believe it or not. Mostly good characters and once you get to know their quirks practically every episode is fun.
