kid chameleon, though already mentioned, feels a lot like an edgy kid played mario 3 and wrote all his cool ideas for a mario game in a stolen exercise book, then it got struck by lightning and became a real game
(mortal kombat is the same, (though less charmingly) but for street fighter ii)
