The second stop will be New Dominion Bookshop, which has been one of my favorite local places ever since I moved to Charlottesville in 2019. A week from today, 11/22, I will speak with my UVA colleague @aristofontes.bsky.social. Doors 3:30pm, start 4pm; there will be free snacks and books for sale.

First stop on my mighty mini book tour will be New York City, which I was lucky to call home from 2007 through 2015. On Thursday 11/20 I will be at Topos Too bookstore in Queens (59-22 Myrtle Ave), speaking with @shaylalove.bsky.social. Doors 7pm, start 7:30pm; books and beers will be for sale.

When I got my author copies I could not resist putting them side by side to confirm that, yes, indeed everything's bigger in America, even my Diogenes.

The result is in transit to bookstores all over the country and will be available November 11, as they say, everywhere books are sold...

This actually looks a lot like the pet pig of someone I know! Hope it gets repatriated soon.

Wow! And also a bit terrifying…!

My answer: practical shopping! (Groceries, cobbler, socks etc.) To describe my frustration with C’ville to people from elsewhere I’ll joke about how there’s dozens of restaurants but you can’t buy a pair of socks to save your life here…
