TBF Twitter/X conducts direct business with foreign ops pretty regularly now (incl. Iran, Bloomberg had a report on it this week)

IMHO that’s a valid concern; the landscape & challenges shift after you (as a faction) establish your voice & having seat at a table, the main fight (before planning & implementing policy) is about balancing your core rhetoric with the direction you wanna push the consensus on & it’s … quite hard

IMO someone should look into some sort of snap election mechanism being established asp (even a french-adjacent one, for congress)

The (summer) DC terrorist attack quite literally created the pretext for the bans being revived & surges in attacks/arrests on a lot of communities!

Honestly that’d be great (& technically feasible for almost all of them besides maybe AS) as long as we can re-index & reform the house’s size and maybe senate rules [but that’s obv way harder than it sounds even compared to create a framework for the islands to form a joint state]
February 9, 2026 at 2:25 PM
Probably has been done before but:

Also either turning public lands into massive resorts or vanity complexes to be sold off to foreign investors (while still having USG officers stationed there to monitor said investors)

The mobility & travel issue for island-nations is another major issue that doesn’t have any easy solutions
February 9, 2026 at 6:02 AM
Reservation in a Pacific state would probably be their preferred option if they can get it (especially due to their size & if it comes with more straightforward citizenship rules)

Yeah, we’re long overdue for re-engaging & working on effective reforms for the indigenous nations/reservations
February 9, 2026 at 5:50 AM
The thing is AS would lose their national status/pathways & probably a lot of the services directly staffed & provided by federal personnel on the island & Guamanians/Marianans would lose their citizenship & probably a good chunk of their funding (not to mention the limits imposed by the FAS)
February 9, 2026 at 5:44 AM
Oh! Yea, it sounds like it’d be the perfect match for this specific type of vote now that you mention it!

Yeah your proposal for legislation of holding a (I assume binding) referendum that’d determine the island’s fate is probably the least objectionable path.

I wonder how many options should be presented tho? (Statehood,FAS-Status,Independence, and the status quo?)
February 9, 2026 at 5:31 AM
IIRC American Samoans’ mostly self-selected their way into being unincorporated, otherwise they’d have to give up their Tribal leadership & Land laws (maybe you can give them both by admitting as a reservation island inside a bigger pacific state but who knows)
February 9, 2026 at 5:13 AM
They’d lose their citizenship & passports (and no path to citizenship unlike say, American Samoans) and probably won’t be able to have any immigration or customs agreements with other countries or the FAS status would be revoked
