My 6th hr 7th graders got me a Monchhichi for Christmas. Now they made him a desk and chair in their woods class with a pencil and Chromebook. One of my girls made him a little plaid coat! Kids are awesome!!

Lots of seniors came to visit me today on their last day. This isn’t an easy job. There’ve been many heartbreaks through the years. But when these kids come by to say thank you….damn. It’s bittersweet. But it brings it home how amazing they are. I love you guys. You make me so proud. BE GOOD!!

I was in my truck listening to Everybody Wants To Rule The World (on Real Genius soundtrack) and I got teary eyed. I still wear my sunglasses on the back of my collar because of this movie. I’m pleased to see the outpouring of love on Bluesky today. RIP Val.

A couple of my 7th grade girls made my cat a little house today after I told them how much he loves boxes. (Don’t worry, their work was finished.) Don’t let the crabby people fool you. There are tons of amazing kids out there.

I had my 6th graders do an assignment where they wrote their own bill (govt. unit). I was worried they wouldn’t take it serious. Every one of them wrote a bill that was about different civil rights, safety, animal cruelty, the environment, or med insurance help, etc. I was so proud. There’s hope!

Watching Lord Of The Rings: The Two Towers and king Thëoden is pondering “how did it come to this” as the orcs are marching towards Helm’s Deep. Then Aragorn told a young boy, “There is always hope”. And the elves march in to honor their allegiance.

Today this hits different.

I live in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Normally we’d be skiing, shoveling/plowing snow, etc. this time of year. Today I think I could cut the grass. It’s like something has changed?????

The world’s full of hardship but a tragedy that goes unsung is seeing my 7th graders take a gourmet cookie that a parent bought for our homeroom Christmas party & then throw it away because they filled up on Doritos and Mountain Dew. RIP heavily frosted snowman. You could have brought me such joy.
