Here is our open letter to the new NRW Chair asking him what he will do to reverse the decline in nature. He says his priority is to ‘position NRW as a national leader in nature recovery’.
We want to hold him and NRW to those words.

One of INCC's priorities is to support early career Nature Conservationists. We employed 4 students to work with us over the summer months. Its been a wonderful experience and thank you so much to Freya, Liv, Matt and Laura.

Aren't Water Voles wonderful. This Water Vole was filmed going about its business on the River Thaw in South Wales. They were reintroduced to the river last year, after a 20 year absence. Surveys this year suggests that the population is doing well and the Water Vole are exploring new habitats.

Another wonderful day at our Llwyndewi Nature Reserve, this time Bracken Bruising to help restore the grassland habitat and to create nesting plots for Nightjar next year. Huge thank you to all the volunteers from Bridgend College Conservation Volunteers. Huge help, as always.

Cattle are back at Llwyndewi Nature Reserve. Wonderful evening spent at the reserve watching these guys settling in to their new home. Cattle and conservation grazing are so important to Welsh Wildlife. Huge thank you to Toby our grazier.

Visited Lwyndewi on the weekend to show local landowners and neighbours what we are doing there. Magical place and always happy to share what we are doing. Lots of Orchids in the meadow this year - thanks mainly to new fencing to stop the sheep coming in from the mountain... they always find a way.

Working for wildlife in the the Amman Valley is incredibly rewarding. Working with lots of landowners on different conservation projects. Only 2 occupied Barn Owl boxes yesterday, plus a Tawny. We also saw lots of meadows and flower rich pastures. Its an amazing place. Thanks to Cedwyn and Dafydd.

To celebrate the success of our upland Water Vole project, we've produced this wonderful (day in a life) animation with @clothcatstudio.bsky.social. American Mink are still the biggest threat Water Voles face. Please help us fight for our remaining Water Voles. bit.ly/4eymyTy
Thank you & pls share.

We've been working with a landowner in the VoG over the past 2 years, helping make the farm wildlife friendly, whilst still remaining a financially viable. Our arable margins have lots of wildflowers & insects. Plus we got to see Kestrels, Skylarks, Brown Hares & Yellowhammers. It was a good day.

Great day on the Nature Reserve with @savebutterflies.bsky.social pulling Himalayan Balsam. The reserve is quite remote so no idea how Balsam got there, but as its at the very top of the catchment we are trying our best to get rid of it. Huge thank you to all the volunteers for helping out.

There's not too many better ways to spend a Friday than wandering around @cefngarthenor. Great to see how the wildlife and habitats are responding to the nature friendly management over the past few years.

Lovely day at Bad Wolf Productions Cardiff, looking at the amazing work they have done to make their grounds a bit more wildlife friendly. Simple changes to verge cutting regimes have made a huge difference. Well done and thank you to all involved.

We are already coming to the end of the Marsh Fritillary flight season in our rearing pens. Still a dozen or so butterflies left. Its sad to see, but its nice knowing that they have laid thousands of eggs ready to support the local population in South Wales.
