Matthew Rhys was stunning as Richard Burton. He particularly delighted in his perfectly timed delivery of the funnier moments of Burton's life, which made the poignant moments all the more moving.

Richard Burton has in this scene recited some poetry to Dylan Thomas by William Dunbar. The comedic timing in this scene was incredible. Burton here impersonates Thomas taking credit for the poem during an alcoholic evening spent together. The auditorium from my viewpoint. Rhys as Burton commands the entire room, leaving the audience captivated. He stands on the edge of the stage as he speaks, gesticulating directly to the audience, who all have similar expressions and seating positions.
