But you just had to guess what they meant, which is my entire complaint.

Yes, you're missing it. If ChatGPT never encouraged suicide (subtract four people) they've still invoked this complaint about over a million people discussing the topic. That's a distinct complaint from encouraging suicide, so what is it and what do they want to happen?

The one thing we know FOR SURE about the complaint I'm talking about is that it's not just about the main subject of the article, which is encouraging suicide. It's easy to think that it is because it *doesn't give an argument*.

"don't play dumb, clearly the person is complaining about encouraging suicide like the headline says" -- No, actually, we know that they're NOT talking about encouraging suicide; the article claims four examples of this, but the user is complaining about a different "over a million" population.

I’m not talking about the quoted tweet that describes 4 “encouragements”, I’m talking about the “over a million users” the person is talking about. Do they think ChatGPT is encouraging suicide in over a million users even though the article doesn’t?

I have a program that makes the typewriter carriage return ding every time I hit enter and it’s wonderful

What do you think the problem is? What do you want to be different? What is the failure and what does correcting it look like?

Or do you just have outrage energy you’re willing to channel into whichever reactionary movement first panders to it?

Congratulations, you at least have a position.
November 8, 2025 at 3:58 PM
But now you’ve actually articulated a specific position, which is the thing I’m faulting the person for not doing. That’s my whole point.
