Nick Saban understood the rivalry and went 2-3 vs UM when UM was very good. The outsiders like the Smiths were handled easily. Not saying MSU is going to return the middle of the Dantonio years , just that Fitzgerald has a chance to make the rivalry competitive...

Be careful what you wish for. Fitzgerald hates Michigan and understands the rivalry. In the past when MSU hires a coach with that mindset they've done reasonably well vs UM.

Thats funny (in a depressing way because everything that is happening now is so damn depressing) it took place in Sioux Center Iowa. Because Sioux Center is where he made his famous "I could shoot someone in the middle of 5th Ave and not lose any supporters" statement back in January of 2016.
