We can't review a game based on what it might be someday later down the road, though. Plans change, and promised fixes and modes can fall through (TLoU2 Multiplayer, anyone?). It would set a dangerous precedent to review based on future assumptions instead of what is actually there. :)

This game makes me think of "useless moves." It was made during the end of the fighting game craze, and many developers had no clue what made a great fighting game. There were cool-looking moves that had no other practicality except looking cool, so players avoided much of the moveset.

Castlevania is the first game I remember choosing. Sure, a very young me stood in line for Pitfall!, and I asked for certain other games up to that point. But with Castlevania, I was in Toys R Us, looking over all of the tickets for games, and my choice that day was Castlevania. Always special! :)
