That scene in the hallway, when the Christmas tree topples over, is where I always felt like the director is trying to finally drive it home if you didn't already get it: "we're turning the idea of 'Christmas movie' on its side!"

I've never read the books, but I will give them a shot once the series is over. I'm in the process of doing the same with A Song of Ice and Fire (about 1/3 though "A Clash of Kings").

I just need them to finish Foundation. Anything else, is on them!🤷🏾‍♂️😆

As an outsider (I've seen and enjoy the movies, but not into the fandom or spinoffs on any major level), Empire and Last Jedi (yes, "Last", not "Return") were my favorites of the three trilogies. Don't know if that helps or hurts your case, but cheers anyway! 🍻
