Committed European and hates Brexit and it’s narrow nationlism. Retired teacher, left of centre and lifelong Labour supporter but not liking Starmer’s policies and now more inclined to support the Lib Dems.
I appreciate that child care is and still is often a form of unpaid work and that the standard of living was much lower in the fifties but it seems that for families with children even if they both parents work it is still not enough to provide for basic needs.

They also need to look at the bias of some the the presenters which has led to Farage and members of Reform being showcased on Question Time more than member of the Lib Dem’s which are the bigger Party.

It would be interesting to look at how the income distribution has changed since WW2. I also wonder how it has become necessary for both partners in a marriage to work to be able to survive whereas in the fifties it widely assumed that there needed to be just one worker in a family.

The biggest stain on our democracy was the Russian funded lying of the Brexit campaign.
December 16, 2025 at 5:51 PM
They need to include the Brexit campaign and the funding of that campaign.
December 16, 2025 at 5:40 PM
He specifically said that the enquiry would not investigate Russian interference into the Brexit campaign
December 16, 2025 at 5:35 PM
He specified ruling out investing the Russian interference in the Brexit Referendum which was probably the most successful Russian covert operation to undermine the UK.

Perhaps you might want to compare the pension rates to other European countries.

Since the end of WW2 there have been four mass shootings in the UK loosely defined as where four or more are killed. These were at Hungerford(1987), Dunblane(1996) Cumbria(2010) and Plymouth (2021). In the US there were by this definition 398 mass shootings so far in 2025. Gun laws work!

You don’t need to forge bespoke customs deal just join the Customs Union.

There are quite a lot of dentists in my area, all of them private and expensive. This makes them unaffordable by many in this low wage area. This again is a Tory legacy and will almost certainly be made worse if Reform were able to get anywhere near power.

How about now allowing private citizens to carry guns which is the case for most civilised countries.
December 14, 2025 at 3:08 PM
Trump is even more unpopular than Starmer in the UK.
December 14, 2025 at 3:03 PM
You might also add that some of the happiest nations on Earth are also in Europe.

The campaign against Corbyn was always about getting rid of a left wing leader that would threaten the cosy life of the well off. Jeremy Corbyn was never anti Semitic or racist unlike the proven racism and anti semitism of the far right.
December 14, 2025 at 11:15 AM
When Trump complains about civilisational decline he seems to forget in Europe we don’t allow our private citizens to carry guns and as a consequence we don’t experience mass shootings on the scale of the US. London is also a far safer city than comparable US cities.
December 14, 2025 at 10:58 AM
I’ve no doubt that Trump will take the opportunity to blame Biden and the so called Antifa conspiracy.
December 14, 2025 at 9:26 AM
Papers like Daily Mail are largely responsible for our decline by printing blatant lies and poisoning the minds of susceptible people. The result being Brexit and the hateful rhetoric that you see directed at immigrants.
December 14, 2025 at 9:23 AM
The decline in the Labour Party membership was probably due to the leadership of Starmer. I for one could not stomach the anti immigrant rhetoric, the refusal to call out the genocide in Gaza and the so called red lines when dealing with the EU that is the current policy of the Labour Party.

Not just the US but the world. Demagogues around the world are being given free rein to reshape the world to their advantage at the expense of ordinary people.

Anyone who saw the scenes from Amsterdam can understand why the Israeli football fans were banned from this country.
December 11, 2025 at 11:35 AM
Simple answer to that is don’t visit the US there are plenty of other countries in the world more deserving of tourists money who are more welcoming.

AI has the potential to benefit all of the people. The so called ‘decaying European states’ need to make sure this happens and resist the greedy US tech bros.

I think the high fat low carb diet was originally called the Atkins Diet and strangely enough it’s author died of a heart attack.
