Without any ground for concern, the EPP and far-right groups in the EP have set up the new EU Parliament “NGO Scrutiny Working Group” – and without any public agenda, no mandate, it is a prime example of lack of transparency.

A more consistent, transparent approach would support public trust and protect the EU’s credibility. But improving systems should not be confused with casting blanket suspicion on civil society.

Where NGOs do receive funds, they are among the most heavily scrutinised actors. And unlike other recipients, we often voluntarily publish additional information about our work, donors and governance.

Hi! The judgment being based on the right to free movement derived from EU citizenship, we believe that it applies only to EU citizens who enjoy that right.

Hi! The judgment applies only to EU citizens who lawfully concluded a marriage in an EU Member State in which they exercised their freedom to move and reside, so unfortunately not to a marriage concluded outside the EU.

Today’s CJEU ruling confirms: EU citizenship includes the right to live a normal family life without discrimination. Refusing to recognise a same-sex marriage concluded in another Member State violates EU law and the Charter. A long-awaited victory for love, dignity, and free movement.
