This book contains all of the illustrations, character and monster designs he worked on (everything before DQXI), so there shouldn’t be any doubt?

It says he did art for the Gradius series, Twinbee, Castlevania (Akumajou Dracula) and Metal Gear. It doesn’t say series for those so it would mean the first entries? No credit is given for Salamander 2.

So this boss, it seems to me they’re referencing the poster from “The Thing” which is called “遊星からの物体X” in Japan and the boss has an X on the front… but I don’t get the pun at all, so I could be wrong.
