Reducing emissions intensity at the point of extraction also does nothing to address the majority of emissions that are released from burning fossil fuels.

Today’s agreement ultimately ties emissions reductions to more pollution.

By not implementing the oil and gas emissions cap, Canada is taking down the guardrails for its most polluting industry.

Commitments to strengthen industrial carbon pricing are necessary but, in the context of increased fossil fuel production, insufficient to manage oil & gas sector emissions.

The agreement's carbon capture & storage requirements won’t bring the pipeline in line with Canada’s climate goals.
Tying the Pathways project to a new pipeline means any emissions reductions achieved with #CCS will be offset by increased oilsands production.
