And it’s scary because the point we’re at right now only exacerbates the rise of AI, because why put the bare minimum effort in when you can just fire all of your writers and artists and generate shit? It’s the ultimate infinite money glitch for corporations. Terrifying

I don’t want art that’s created just to sell, I want art to exist because an artist fought for it to exist. I want art to have meaning and merit and PASSION behind it. I miss when people could make things and not have the overarching goal of selling a product

Even just watching old SpongeBob recently I was like “wow, something like this would NEVER be released today” and that’s really sad! Animation is such an important medium to so many people, and it really bothers me when money weasels its way into art.

Definitely feel this as well, and not in a nostalgia circle jerk way, but in the sense that you can tell how much capitalism has absolutely destroyed art in general. There’s no merit to many shows now because there’s not MEANT to be— the show is simply a product, and the writers do the bare minimum.
