The strangest sensation is when I’m able to “read” a whole sentence in that I know all the words but it just doesn’t mean anything to me—usually because it’s some construction I’m unfamiliar with. I don’t recall ever feeling that way in English

Sometimes I miss a “ne” or mistake a linking term or a tense, eg take the future for the conditional. Basic errors that radically alter the meaning of sentences without me thinking I’m unable to read it

But this is enough that you could mistake instructions on your prescription bottle, for instance

Wait you mean a young millennial?

I think this is the dawn of our beautiful age of stochastic programming where it just randomly works sometimes and doesn't other times

No, no keyboard shortcut on the face of the earth works, I have tried every single one in multiple applications
November 25, 2025 at 2:41 PM
this is really completely unacceptable. how in the world is someone supposed to use Windows for international business like this??
November 25, 2025 at 2:40 PM
Yeah I installed both Interlingua and Interlingue which appear to be international keyboards with AZERTY and QWERTY layouts respectively but neither work. I switched back to English US and now can randomly type accents in some applications and not others

it's completely broken
November 25, 2025 at 2:40 PM
well i can now, for no reason, type accents exclusively in notepad and nowhere else
November 25, 2025 at 2:37 PM
it's so cool that Microsoft has replaced their help forums with chatbots so now you say this 50 times and they just respond with "Great question! Open up settings and choose English (International)"
November 25, 2025 at 2:24 PM
there's something called "Interlingua" which is apparently supposed to replace it according to some, but it just is AZERTY for me
November 25, 2025 at 2:20 PM
not to simp for Jobs but on Mac this is SO EASY. I can't comprehend why Windows is making something so common this hard
November 25, 2025 at 2:19 PM
windows is becoming completely unusable very rapidly. I can't even type a fucking accent because they've apparently killed the US international keyboard option
November 25, 2025 at 2:17 PM
this is a bad joke, right?
November 25, 2025 at 2:15 PM
although it's so cute when French people want to try their english with me too they like to test their numbers
