In recent months, we’ve watched as some of those loved ones have been moved to horror for the first time, which can bring up frustration, hope, & anger. We know reaching for those closest to us can be the most important work, yet sometimes we fall short of setting ourselves up for success.

Over the past two years of heartbreak, rage, and action in response to the genocide in Gaza, many of us have wrestled with loved ones who do not see the situation as we do.

We know that the fight for justice in Palestine is impossible to separate from the fight for economic and racial justice in the United States. No more will we accept leaders who refuse to fight for the safety of Jews, Muslims, and all people.

We are the Jewish future and the future starts now.

In his acceptance speech, Mayor-elect @zohrankmamdani.bsky.social said “we won because we insisted that no longer would politics be something that is done to us. Now, it is something that we do.” We are proud to stand by Mamdani, Al-Zubi, & millions more seizing this moment to shape a better world.

That same night in Cambridge, @votealzubi.com achieved a stunning upset, easily winning a first round seat to become the City Council's youngest-ever member. Her victory too was powered by the Palestine solidarity movement, including organizers from Cambridge for Palestine and IfNotNow Boston.

In Somerville, voters overwhelmingly passed Question 3, a resolution to divest city funds from Israel’s war machine. Despite a cynical ADL-funded opposition campaign, the measure passed by over 17 points, thanks to the hard work of Muslim and Jewish activists in Somerville for Palestine.

Our communities understand that Zohran's bold, progressive vision — one that unequivocally includes equality, justice, and safety for Palestinians and Israelis — will enable all of us to thrive.

This coalition was driven in large part by people of color, working class New Yorkers, and first-time voters inspired by what this campaign represents.

Last night, we saw the results: New York Jews were proud to be part of the multiracial, multiethnic, interfaith coalition that turned out in record numbers to vote for Zohran Mamdani.

As Zohran faced an onslaught of Islamophobia, we organized our Jewish communities & refused to succumb to that fearmongering.

Throughout this election, Donald Trump, Andrew Cuomo, as well as far too many out-of-touch Jewish leaders sought to weaponize antisemitism to divide Jews from our fellow New Yorkers.

As the Trump regime ramps up its attacks on the most vulnerable people in our communities — including immigrants, the LGBTQ+ community, and people of color — we’re lucky to have Zohran fighting back alongside us for a vision of shared safety.
