Inexplicably moved to create this pattern instead of going to bed. Whoops. It's got some 80s pleasure to it.

Jesus christ the internet is difficult to search these days. Anyone know why firefox on android is showing me this placeholder instead of videos?

Today's little treat: a few vintage whatsits from backroomfinds.com

I don't sew vintage so I don't shop patterns there but boy, it's always a joy to go poking around.

This is Elli, he lives in our neighbourhood and came over to say hi when I was getting some sun on my face. Extremely soft good boi. Requested the most scritches I could give.

Bit of craft process: Sometimes I work on a pattern and realize that it's not for stand-alone use. I was working on this pattern of Tasmanian copperhead snake heads. It's neat but I wouldn't wear it. But with the colour changed to white for versatility, it makes a great pattern fill for layering.

I had a dream that we were in a beach town and I kept finding a sweater in thrift shops which somehow I knew had been made locally.

It was like the "I AM A LUXURY" sweater but short sleeved and pale blue. The text on it was "STUCKONY + RHODEY". I was impressed by someone's dedication to their OT4

The Skyeline at SJ's in Boston adds Yuzuri liqueur to a traditional Aviation, and swaps yuzu juice for the lemon. It was served bracingly chilled and was one of the most nicely balanced cocktails I've had in a minute.

Mildly obsessed with sewing giant embroidered patches onto denim jackets for an instant fashion win. Jacket by Levi's, patch from Mood Fabrics.

Post you from a different era
On this particular day I was forced to attend an all-day team meeting of a team that I had already left for an internal move because the workload was stupid and my boss was abusive. I don't remember why the mustache was attending also.

OK I am going to bed but I needed to see this on a lower contrast background first.

Instead of watching election results come in I messed around in photoshop - these enamel orchids are based on ref I took of real live cymbidium orchids at the NY Botanical Gardens a few years ago

Today's outfit of the day - same deal as yesterday; I designed the print of the top, and I sewed the top and trousers. #selfie #sewing

Day one of as corporate presentable as I have in me. I made the tank top and trousers, and designed the tank top print. #selfie

Advantage of taking the train over the plane: no carefully knolled security bin; just a pile of things loosely arranged on the tray table.

Is it generic? Yes. Is it plants I like and an interesting experiment in colour? Sure.

I made this piece of art on January 7th 2021. It's about self-censorship in the face of almost unbelievably awful situations and the way it plays into the normalization of extremely abnormal civic situations.

Don't feel much like styling but I am excited to have used my Robbed the Rainbow spoonflower print for this Muna and Broad Nullarbor cami. It's cotton/silk and has a cool slightly crisp hand and a subtle sheen. #sewing

I am done sewing the silliest thing.

I sewed the prettiest v-neck bias binding I've ever done, but it will be covered in flowers 🙃. I had planned to put the floral lace trim over the bias tape as straps, but it came with a pale beige ric-rac that just disappears under it, so I'll definitely be using that! #sewing

Oh this is helpful! Lacoste shared a diagram of the pattern pieces of the original polo shirt. Or, as it were, tennis shirt. I have the Beau polo designed by @aaronicabcole.bsky.social for Made for Mermaids on my to-sew list, but I also wanted to do some vintage deep dive for myself.

Aw yeah, getting silly with it.

Look! It's got a shimmery finish and my birth month flower "engraved" into it! My bougier friends had a hard time not making stink faces at it but I am so pleased. It reminds me of a little rubber ring I got from one of those machines where you put in a coin and get a thing in a plastic bubble.
