A rare duck indeed - an unmodified Mac Classic II motherboard with the original PRAM battery - fully intact with no leakage. Can't say the same for the case (and in all probability the analog board), though.

Coming to @officialpax.bsky.social tomorrow? Come win a Steam Deck at the deeply silly (and hopefully intensely fun) panel I'm hosting with other former Omeganauts. 10:30 AM in Bobcat Theater. #pax #paxeast

Hilarious that after migrating my top 1000 tweets (out of 2100+), only 459 came over because the rest were all retweets or quote tweets. But yay, BlueSky?

I rarely use Twitter these days, but making a rare post to say come see my #PAXEast this afternoon at 4PM in Dragonfly! https://east.paxsite.com/en-us/schedule/panel-information.html?gtID=831636&panel-name=Totally-Not-the-Omegathon

It can simultaneously be true that TikTok is an unbelievably harmful platform, especially for children, and that the legal basis to ban it is extremely tenuous and doing so would set a dangerous precedent.

It's kind of wild how The Simpsons: Hit and Run has gone from "shitty Crazy Taxi clone" when it first came out to "fondly remembered GTA for kids" today.

Nice to see the server management team at Blizz hasn't lost their sense of humor.

This is absolutely wild to me. If I see a product only advertised on FB (or other social media, for that matter), I assume it's a bad product or scam. I would never in a million years have guessed advertising on social media was even remotely effective.

Gay rights are human rights.
Trans rights are human rights.
Abortion is healthcare.
Equal protection under the law means equal fucking protection under the law.

A rare weeknight trip to Boston to see Wet Leg (including making it back to my hotel just before it started raining sideways)

It's kind of insane that certain subnet calculators still draw a distinction between classful and classless IP space in 2021.

Moving means it's time to pack up a decade's worth of PAX scarves.

How is it that in 2021 (nearly 2022) that Netflix's streaming app is still better in almost every way than anyone else's (with the possible exception of YouTube on certain platforms)? I get that they have inertia but come on.

Portland has an embarrassment of riches when it comes to food delivery - two locally owned and operated companies, plus the terrible national brands. Despite all that, I can't find anyplace that will deliver me a coffee to go with my lunch.

It's kind of batshit insane that Disney Genie/Disney Parks app is apparently hosted solely in AWS. Seems like a prime example of something you'd want local, in park survivability on, at least for certain key features. https://www.cnet.com/tech/services-and-software/disney-parks-were-already-faci...

Pluses of buying and doing minor renovations on a house at this point in the pandemic: I am *really* used to wearing an N95 all the time.

There is a baby on this flight who is *not* having it. I'm super sympathetic to the parents (I'm sure it's totally miserable to deal with a crying baby at 35k feet), but I'd also like it to stop crying. Apple hasn't quite perfected that kind of noise cancellation yet.
