If Governor Newsom sees through his announced plan to put such a gerrymandering measure on the ballot for the consideration of California voters, I will vote against it.

If Governor Newsom sees through his announced plan to put such a gerrymandering measure on the ballot for the consideration of California voters, I will vote against it.
What he should *not* do is pull California further along the path that Texas is pursuing and exacerbate a political cancer which already erodes public confidence in institutions in many other states (Republican-run and Democrat-run alike).

I have written the governor -- along with my state assemblymember and state senator -- to advocate this. If he pursues this course, he will demonstrate the sort of bold leadership he is seeking to project.
Absent that, he should leave our non-partisan redistricting commission as is.
