Could have specific cues for specific spells, too - presumably Knock makes a certain sound, but maybe Sleep plays a bar of a lullaby or there's a distinctive scent. Casters might not know if they don't have that spell

As-is I don't know if you would quite get that domino effect of multiple situations boiling over at once - which maybe you don't want since it can get crazy fast

That being said it is a VERY d&d story. If you squint Tao vs Buddha could almost be law and chaos (up to the reader to say which is which)

That's fair. I've seen a couple comparisons of it with B/X that line up quite nicely, but yeah the lack of reference in the book most likely to make one is telling
