“Local stores next to the protected bike-lane have seen a 49% increase in sales, compared to an average of 3% for Manhattan as a whole.”

Want To Make Money? Build A Business On A Bike Lane
Research from New York City notes that newly installed protected bike lanes do more than keep bikers safe--they raise the income of the stores they are in front of.

I’m always entertained to learn who’s still using these ancient languages. I probably shouldn’t be surprised a govt. is one of them: www.phoronix.com/news/Soverei...

Started playing with @augmentcode.com yesterday. I’ve integrated it with NeoVim. Very impressed so far with the product and it’s documentation. I’ve been using AI tools along side my coding window for some time now and I’m happy to finally have one in my editor that doesn’t force me to use VSCode.

Ensuring that we continue to learn and exercise System 2 is going to become increasingly important as AI tools continue to creep in to the fabric of our lives. Doing so will make sure that the day The Machine Stops, we aren’t completely helpless: idiallo.com/blog/dont-fo...
In the Age of AI, Don't Forget About System 2
A few years ago, I took a job 25 miles from my home in Los Angeles. The city is famous for many things, but for commuters, it's the land of traffic. To avoid this traffic, I immediately reached for a

I think my main objections to “vibe coding” (name aside) is expressed well in this article by @ashley.dev. Their statement about bashing their head against some problem they did not understand resonated with me, as a self-taught systems engineer, that few truly understand: ashley.dev/posts/what-e...
What Even Is Vibe Coding?
When I first heard the phrase vibe coding, I rolled my eyes a little. It sounded like another fleeting buzzword, one of those things that shows up in a thread, ...

I hear all too often that something is too hard to be used in production. Too clever is another way to express that sentiment. When did we grow so lazy as engineers that learning something new was considered a bad thing?

In case you were wondering, the GULF OF MEXICO touches a couple of different countries. Among those, Mexico has the majority share of coastline…. So, tell me again why “dear leader” Trump thinks it belongs to us?

The use of websockets in kubernetes' client-go sdk is so welcomed in 1.32 and so past due. I tried building a PR to do it in 2020 and got cp/exec working but once I got to port-forward it all fell apart. They ended up adding a new protocol to the api server to handle it better. Bravo!

I support bookshop.org and encourage people to support their local bookstores, but the rollout of the new e-book system is a complete farce and is doomed to fail. This will only serve to further entrench Amzn as the de-facto provider of e-books.

If you can't put it on any device, you don't own it.
