I went into Tower Records in Whiteley’s (RIP) after reading an interview with Mark Hollis (RIP) and bought a CD by a composer he mentioned, Morton Feldman (RIP). The rest was near-silence.

Mums and aunties. I asked my mum do this a lot, for shame. The best/worst time was making her queue at Forbidden Planet for the autographs of Douglas Adams, Geoffrey Perkins and Mark Wing-Davey. They found this hilarious, as you can imagine. My mum was brilliant.

I worked for an Edinburgh-based business twenty years ago, and many of the songs on this LP reflect the highs and lows of that time.
