The trans issue is particularly instructive because you can actually see how the spike in anti-trans newspaper articles significantly anticipated any shift in public polling. It very much started in the U.K. as an elite obsession.

Another absolutely iconic one - a Black Knight from Dark Souls.

On the opposite side of the field, there's Archaon, Lord of the End Times.

For a more conventional knight, Warhammer has some pretty classic designs, like this Reiksguard.

Consider also the samurai valkyrie knight Malenia from Elden Ring.

Consider the Knight of Gold. Mamoru Nagano does some pretty rad mecha design.

One catch with this argument is that the inefficiencies of privatisation mean that a bunch of American utilities and services really are insanely overpriced compared to those of peer countries. Nationalisation could well cut costs without increasing the average tax burden - just look at health.
November 21, 2025 at 4:09 PM
Like, look at this shit. The problem with American healthcare is not 'the average person doesn't spend enough on it'.

Of course, even the assertion that you can use 'deconstruction' wrong is going to lead you down a long and winding scholarly rabbithole, given how intensely relaxed its creator was about the meanings of words...

So if you stitch together the Medea myths, she accidentally killed several of her fourteen kids by trying to give them the favour of the gods, then received that divine favour herself when she killed two more of them deliberately? Well then.

There was also a lemurball.

We just did a day ago at the Granada Biodome, coincidentally enough. Hopped over to its feeding bowl right next to us.

Though I've rarely seen this attitude expressed quite as bluntly as it has been by British Trotskyites. leftunity.org/the-break-up...

The dust cloud element of her appearance is also reminiscent of Shukaku the sand tanuki, so yeah, at least one artist in this process was almost certainly cribbing from Naruto, I'd guess.
October 30, 2025 at 6:13 PM
Gives me major Naruto vibes. Probably quite closely inspired by the Kyuubi from that.

Of course, we all know that the real winner in Soviet military engineering was Big Dome.
October 29, 2025 at 9:54 PM
Hey now, the IS versus the Tiger is very much a matter of taste. The Soviets had their own aesthetic flair.

It's quite true to the original book, though. Frankenstein wanted his creation to be inhumanly handsome, and was partially successful in a way that makes you wonder whether he's just being a bit too picky about the results.
October 27, 2025 at 1:04 AM
Reminds me of the Remnant game series. You too can be a cowboy wizard, walking through stargates and battling reality-breaking plant aliens armed with nothing but your wits, your courage, and a Winchester rifle customised with looted elven magitech.

Specifically, it's a food programme that relies on an entire parallel system of fake money that can only be used to buy certain things, because means-testing yourself into a single point of failure for your 'don't let people starve' initiative is just sensible politics.
