But the well meant read of this tells me similar to, "If your hand causes you to sin, cut it off." Beware your family making you a worse person, it's easier for them to manipulate you. Cut out toxic family.

Yeah... I was going to, politely, point that out. But neither are biblical. The former is actually an English Proverb, and, by my quick looking, it actually was a warning by the Church of England that family ties will be stronger than the holy Spirit and can pull you away from the church.
