For a TRULY action oriented experience, maybe they can tap into the Doom engine for Favorite swapping. Aw damn, my go-to frost axe doesn't hurt this one enemy so much....hot swap to lightning-charged throwing knives which also steals souls to recharge your magicka faster. hell yeah

If the build-a-spell half of it is reasonably implemented and paced well from the tutorial onwards, I imagine the near infinite possibilities for players to express their character well within the combat.
