i think growing up as a poc surrounded by i-don’t-see-color-and-neither-should-you types did irreparable damage to my psyche bc on multiple occasions i’ve convinced myself that certain behaviors directed towards me were Not About That at the time, only for the clarity to hit me like a brick later
