Man, I wish I could share this whole article but to summarize: a former member of Digital Underground plans to open a hot dog place in the triangular Kasper's building in Temescal, and he's naming it after hot dog shop in Robert Townsend's "Hollywood Shuffle".

* One group (Veritas) owns a set of SF apartments (300 units over 17 buildings)
* The loans get in trouble, one of their backers (Baupost) teams up with another (Prado) to take over the loan and gets the apts
* Now the two think it's time to sell for $100m

I think housing first (ie no preconditions for housing) is a very good policy.

but think the fundamental driver is that high rents drive homelessness, and housing scarcity drives high rents.

Houston has a lot more housing per household, and a lot more growth.
