I think a lot of younger online folks have yet to internalize the concept of liking a thing while simultaneously recognizing its shortcomings. everything instead gets shoved into a very binary "I love/hate this" box, so you get people obsessing over a franchise they ostensibly "hate"

This is the weirdest fandom I've ever seen because you will have full on cosplayers saying they hate the show in cosplay, while perfectly lipsyncing the lyrics. I don't understand why so many of you have such an aversion to admitting you're a fan of a piece of media as if its a moral failing.
