I don’t know what kind they are, but you might be able to buy cartridges for them. You could also get a bottle of ink and a converter or blunt syringe to refill.

I bought my first vintage pen already restored so I wouldn’t have to worry about that aspect. I stick to safe inks like Waterman or J Herbin (Perle Noire is already a favorite of mine). I’ve been able to enjoy it with no more maintenance than my modern pens, really. I only spent like $30 on it.

Nib creep accumulating and crystalizing. The same saturation of dyes that cause sheen are giving the color. Mine end up looking like that with the new Lamy Dark Lilac.

Those are actually pretty easy to refill if you like them. You can just pull the nib and feed out and use a blunt syringe/pipette to fill the reservoir.

Sailor’s regular black ink is very nice, dark, and reasonably priced. The square bottle is really nice to display, too.

The VPen (aka Varsity) is also pretty easy to refill. The nib and feed are friction fit, and you can use a syringe or pipette to fill the resivoir.
