Wait until you hear about Ireland's one off housing disaster, often associated with a book of premade designs for isolated rural housing called "bungalow bliss".

Houses stretched along every rural road until it becomes "ribbon development" side by side.

Septic tanks for all!

A snippet of Dublin City Council, Galway City, Cork City Centre and Inner Cork City.

Nice to see that colours are similar internationally to some extent.

But what you can do under the policy of each zoning is wildly different.

Single family housing as a zoning restriction is banned in Ireland

The size difference between these two books is insane!

Finally the inner loop to Manhattan has a clockwise and anticlockwise service to add more capacity closer to New York and not as dependent on the radial services.

L4 is a cross connector that doesn't go via Manhattan.

This line goes from Hackensack to Cranford.

It takes in Teterboro and Meadowlands and links all the New Jersey destinations in its own outer orbital arc.

Also L3 is a shuttle from Summit to Cranford.

Line 2 goes from Paterson to Summit in a more flatter U shape, and takes a totally made up new sub surface route through the middle of Newark down Springfield Avenue to older alignments.

Line 1 of the "NJT Loop" goes from Hackensack to Paterson in a big U shape, and runs through Manhattan.

Started a new #NIMBYRails map focusing on New York Elevated lines.

What if they were still standing?
September 18, 2025 at 12:33 PM
Woke to my tent collapsed on me.

Got up and fixed it, then couldn't stick the wind billowing, so went in to the main areas early.

Came back around 6pm for a jumper to find it collapsed again.

Fixed again.

I hope it's still standing, but I'm not looking forward to fixing deep in the am...

Maybe that makes a dent in it, maybe the metrics are also broken.

The National Development Plan review 2025 is out.

Thanks to @feljin.ie it has been pointed out that the train on the cover is a Translink (Northern Ireland) train.

While you might see them running the Enterprise service from time to time, they are not trains owned by Irish Rail in the Republic.

Second faux pas of the episode is that this is the point of Guinness that Scotty orders.

The episode has a product placement warning, did Diageo approve this???

The beauty of Irish democracy is that our politicians are just generally out and about on the street.

The amount of TDs I've passed in the year I've worked across the road is mad.

Yes there's gobshites amongst them and the public, but generally we let them be, like bully gulls amongst pigeons.
