Irish, in Northern Ireland. Far too old for my own good. Interested in history, especially of the 17th-18th Centuries & pirates. Love reading PG Woodhouse, Agatha Christie & Terry Pratchett. Pro-Ukrainian & Palestinian, & any victims of violence.
I hate you...

Because I don't have any.

I'm not sure about the "anymore", because the quantity of legislation passed in recent years suggests that that word might be slightly redundant.

Speaking as a person who has never wanted to work, but is frustrated by the inexplicable lack of totally undeserved personal wealth.

That was my memory of a very brief transit through Paris some 30 years ago.

It seems wrong to like this post.

In this case the heart is on the cusp of breaking, in sympathy.

Thank you for the pictures, although I had (on some level) been aware of the numbers of African troops among the Free French, the images really bring it home.

Erm, the unconditional surrender of Axis powers was imposed, not negotiated.

The only negotiation was about the practicalities of that surrender.

Personally, I'd argue that most wars have ended, for various reasons, in advance of any negotiation.

Was the Battle of Waterloo a negotiation?

Is this an Epstein quote?

If you spend equal time in both, it's the one you declare it to be.

Governments have to ascertain which is your home, and which is a secondary residence/holiday home, because that determines where you are taxed, registered to vote, etc.

In the EU, or not, it's the same.

Well, congratulations from me.

Well done, it's a real testament to your self-discipline and hard work.

Two of the many things I lack.

As well as a doctoral qualification.

Ireland should be trying to use the CTA & pushing the NI dimension to get HMG to avoid following the fascist playbook on migration.

Not agreeing to join in.

Frankly, I cannot see any benefit to Ireland in propping up such an immoral & moronic policy.

Were an emigration nation for feck's sake.

Governments have to be legalistic about residency rights within their jurisdictions.

Any of us, if we are fortunate enough may own multiple properties where we can choose to reside, but only one of them can be classed as our home, rather than our holiday home.

I think that top right is the odd one out, as the only Japanese plane (Mitsubishi A5M maybe, or K18 or K-33)
Top left is, I hope, a Seversky A8V
Bottom left is a Fiat BR20
Bottom right is a Messerschmitt 109.

That said, I am probably completely wrong.

It's yet another reason provided by the current Government for me to be delighted that Labour don't stand for election in Northern Ireland.

Just a hideously cruel and stupid policy choice being made for utterly moronic reasons.

Just a thought, but the difference in climate must have had an impact on yield (which would affect both the crop for consumption/sale and replanting).

Wheat is a tough crop to grow if the conditions aren't right, there are lots of marginal or unsuitable areas in England, even today.
