An interesting little NES adventure game. The graphics have aged surprisingly well, even if the controls and design haven't exactly aged the same way. Plus, there's a surprising amount of dialogue and worldbuilding here. I'd say it's a B-tier Zelda II, which is far from bad, at least.

I wouldn’t say I prefer this to Mario World proper but it definitely reaches some big heights mechanically and visually. It does reach DK64 levels of “too many collectibles” but only if you’re 100%ing it like I did (at least you do get something)

Loved seeing where all the Zelda traditions really start to crystallize, and it’s damn impressive seeing the 2D system so refined on what essentially is their second attempt. It’s easy to see why this is what they built future entries on.

Finally decided to get through this one, never could quite get to the end before. Ages surprisingly well with the level design and control, even if I have no idea how you’re supposed to 101% this blind (looking at you, bonus room inside another bonus room)

Even as I haven’t played TTYD yet, this is rather quaint feeling in both story and gameplay, but you can see so much charm oozing through the dialogue, music, and mechanics that I can’t help but appreciate it. Definitely can be someone’s comfort game

I'd say this is relatively on par with the first in terms of my enjoyment, it's a little aimless at points but the timing and humor were funnier than I expected, plus this has some gorgeous backgrounds and storyboarding. Not for everyone but I enjoyed it
